Description:
G. Willow Wilson, the first American Muslim woman to be a professional comic book writer, will be discussing her new book The Butterfly Mosque: A Young Woman’s Journey to Love and Islam, her graphic novel Cairo, and issues related to the Muhammad cartoon controversies. Her memoir Butterfly Mosque describes her conversion and her four year stay in Cairo , where she struggles with the tensions between her Western background and the Middle East . She falls passionately in love with Omar, who becomes her husband. The format is an onstage conversation with Prof Zaki Hassan and Jason van Boom.
